29.05.2017 | The Minamata Convention on Mercury enters into force on August 16, 2017

History was made on May 18, 2017, when the number of Parties to the Minamata Convention on Mercury reached 50. As this number satisfies the requirement for the Convention to enter into force, it will be enforced on August 16, 2017. Thereafter this document will become legally binding for all its Parties.
