Inorganic anions and cations are major components of drinking water, and are responsible for its unique taste and hardness. However, some components, such as nitrite, bromide, strontium, manganese, and others represent risks to human health when consumed in excess of prescribed amounts. Other components, such as sodium and potassium should be consumed with caution among those at risk for heart disease or allergic reaction. Even fluoride, necessary for healthy teeth, becomes dangerous if taken in excess.

Knowing the ionic composition of other types of water, such as surface water, can aid in understanding both environmental processes as well as the influence of industrial activities on natural water sources. Information about ionic composition of processed waters (including waste water) can also provide insights into the effectiveness of treatment processes.

The analytical center of Lumex Instruments has developed several analytical protocols to analyze surface, natural, potable, and waste water samples using Capel capillary electrophoresis systems, also manufactured by Lumex Instruments. Join our expert as we offer an in-depth discussion of actual analytical tasks in the water industry and provide details of the proposed analytical methods.

IN THIS WEBINAR YOU WILL LEARN:

  • What analytical tasks are performed in the modern water treatment industry
  • Why it is so important to perform chemical analysis of all kinds of water samples
  • Compliance with ASTM, ISO, and US EPA standards
  • Which components can be precisely controlled with Lumex-developed protocols and how these protocols can be performed on our capillary electrophoresis systems
